  • 1 tablespoon Paprika Smoked paprika can enhance flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper Adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
For the Onions
  • 4 units Sweet Onions Vidalia recommended
For Cooking
  • as needed Cooking Spray/Oil For crispiness

Instructions
  1. In a small bowl, combine buttermilk with a splash of lemon juice if needed, and let sit for about 5 minutes.
  2. Peel sweet onions, trim tops and bottoms, and slice each onion into petal-like blooms without cutting all the way through.
  3. In a large bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Whisk together.
  4. Dip each onion into the buttermilk mixture and roll in the seasoned flour mixture for even coating.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  6. Place coated mini blooming onions in the air fryer basket, spaced apart, and spray tops with cooking spray or oil.
  7. Air fry the onions for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  8. While onions are frying, mix a simple dipping sauce with mayonnaise, ketchup, horseradish sauce, and lemon juice.
  9. Remove crispy mini blooming onions once golden and serve warm with the dipping sauce.
