Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the baking dish by greasing it and cube the French bread into 1-inch pieces.
  2. Mix the cream cheese filling by beating the softened cream cheese and then add confectioners' sugar and vanilla extract.
  3. Layer half of the cream cheese mixture over the cubed bread, then add the remaining cubed bread and press down gently.
  4. Whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and brown sugar until smooth and pour over the bread.
  5. Cover tightly and refrigerate for 3 to 24 hours.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C).
  7. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon, then cut in butter until crumbly.
  8. Sprinkle topping over the casserole and bake for 45 to 55 minutes until golden brown.
