Step-by-Step Instructions for Baked Ricotta Chicken
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare your baking dish.
  2. Slice the chicken breasts in half lengthwise and season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, Parmesan, garlic, and Italian seasoning until smooth.
  4. Spread half of the marinara sauce in the bottom of a greased casserole dish.
  5. Place chicken cutlets into the dish, dollop with the ricotta mixture, and top with remaining marinara.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and sprinkle mozzarella over the top. Bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes.
  8. Broil for 1 minute for a golden cheese layer.
  9. Let rest for a few minutes, then garnish with basil before serving.
