  • 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers Provide tart, floral flavor.
  • 8 cups water Base for the limeade.
For the Sweetness
  • 1 cup sugar Adjust to taste or substitute with honey or agave.

  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice Freshly squeezed preferred.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large pot, bring 8 cups of water to a rolling boil. Add 1 cup of dried hibiscus flowers and lower heat to medium. Let infuse for 15 to 20 minutes.
  2. Remove the pot from heat and strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into another bowl or pot, discarding the hibiscus flowers.
  3. Put the strained liquid back on low heat and stir in 1 cup of sugar until fully dissolved, taking about 2 to 3 minutes. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  4. Remove from heat and add 1/2 cup of fresh lime juice, stirring well to combine flavors.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool for about 15 minutes before chilling in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. Serve over ice.
