Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add the penne pasta and cook until al dente, approximately 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage, breaking it into pieces, and brown for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add chopped onion to the skillet and sauté for about 3 minutes until it becomes translucent. Then, add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  4. Pour in diced tomatoes, heavy cream, and sprinkle in Italian seasoning. Stir and simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Reduce heat to low and stir in Parmesan cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Add the drained penne pasta to the skillet, tossing gently to coat in the sauce. Garnish with parsley before serving.
