Preparation Steps

  3. Slice the rolled pastry into eight equal squares.
  4. Whisk together the beaten egg and milk for the egg wash.
  5. Layer each pastry square with ham, cheese, and a touch of mustard.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, and fresh herbs if using.
  7. Seal each filled square with another pastry square, crimping the edges with a fork.
  8. Brush the tops of each stack with the egg wash.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
