For the Batter

  • 1 tsp Paprika Powder Optional
  • 0.5 cup Water Add gradually until smooth
For the Crunchy Coating
  • 1 cup Panko Bread Crumbs Regular breadcrumbs can be used if needed
  • 2 tbsp Neutral Oil Canola or vegetable oil recommended
For the Honey Mustard Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Agave or Maple Syrup Any liquid sweetener can work
  • 3 tbsp Yellow or Dijon Mustard Adjust based on tanginess preference

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Prepare Sauce: Whisk together 2 tablespoons of neutral oil, 1 tablespoon of agave or maple syrup, and 3 tablespoons of yellow or Dijon mustard. Add salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
  2. Prepare Tofu: Drain and press the extra firm tofu in a towel for about 10 minutes. Slice into 1-inch strips.
  3. Make Batter: Combine ½ cup flour, ¼ cup cornstarch, 1 teaspoon baking powder, ½ teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon paprika. Gradually add ½ cup water until smooth.
  4. Coat Tofu: Dip each tofu strip in the batter, then roll in panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a tray with parchment. Arrange tofu and mist with oil. Bake for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway.
  6. Glaze Tenders: Brush honey mustard sauce over baked tenders and return to oven for 5-8 minutes.
