Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Cake Layers by breaking the chocolate cake into uniform bite-sized chunks, about one inch in size.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine mascarpone cheese, heavy whipping cream, and powdered sugar. Use an electric mixer to whip until soft peaks form.
  3. In a glass dish or trifle bowl, start layering with chocolate cake chunks, followed by cherry pie filling.
  4. Continue layering with whipped mascarpone cream. Aim for at least three layers.
  5. Finish with cream on top and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings and garnish with fresh cherries and nuts.
