- Crumble your completely cooled chocolate cake into a large mixing bowl, aiming for a fine texture.

- Melt the chocolate chips on low heat in a double boiler or microwave-safe bowl, stirring frequently until smooth.

- Pour the melted chocolate into the crumbled cake, add bourbon, and mix thoroughly until a moist dough forms.

- Scoop small portions of the mixture, roll into balls, place a maraschino cherry in the center and mold the dough around it.

- Coat the balls by rolling in powdered sugar, cocoa powder, or nuts, or dip in melted chocolate before placing on a parchment-lined tray.

- Chill the coated Cherry Bourbon Balls in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to harden.
