- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt ½ cup of unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Whisk in 1 cup of granulated sugar until smooth.
- In a large bowl, sift together 1 cup of flour, ⅓ cup cocoa powder, ½ teaspoon baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
- Fold the dry mixture into the melted butter mixture. Optionally add ½ cup chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Remove from oven and cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 30 minutes.
- Cut cooled brownies into squares and drizzle with melted candy melts. Add mini candy bows and sprinkles if desired.
- Allow decorations to set for about 15 minutes before serving or packaging.
