Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large cast-iron skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering, about 1-2 minutes.
- Add 1 pound of ground chicken to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 3-5 minutes, or until the chicken is browned and cooked through.
- Stir in 2 cloves of minced garlic and 1 diced onion into the skillet. Continue to cook for another 1-2 minutes until the onion turns translucent.
- Mix in 3 tablespoons of hoisin sauce, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of rice wine vinegar, and 1 teaspoon of freshly grated ginger. Stir for about 1 minute.
- Add 1 can of drained and chopped water chestnuts and 2 sliced green onions to the mixture. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Season with kosher salt and black pepper to taste. Spoon the savory filling into your prepared butter lettuce leaves.
