Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your baking pan by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg. Set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, and buttermilk until well incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking pan.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Let the bars cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Whisk together the glaze ingredients and adjust milk to achieve desired consistency.
  10. Glaze the cooled bars and allow the glaze to set before serving.
