- In a stand mixer, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, instant yeast, salt, warm milk, and melted butter. Mix on medium speed for 4-5 minutes until a smooth dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with a towel or plastic wrap and let rise in a warm spot for 30-60 minutes until nearly doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 450°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper. Bring water to a boil and carefully add baking soda.
- Punch down the dough and divide into 12 pieces. Roll each into a ¾-inch rope and cut into 1-2 inch pieces.
- Boil each piece in the baking soda bath for 30 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Brush bites with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes until golden-brown.
- Serve warm with your favorite dip.
