Pretzel Bath Ingredients
  • 10 cups Water For baking soda bath.
  • 2 tablespoons Baking Soda Essential for chewy crust.
Finishing Ingredients
  • 1 large Egg Mixed with a little water for egg wash.
  • 1 tablespoon Coarse Salt Sprinkle generously over bites.
Optional Sweet Variation
  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon Sugar Toss freshly baked pretzel bites in this mixture.

Method
 

Preparation Instructions
  1. In a stand mixer, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, instant yeast, salt, warm milk, and melted butter. Mix on medium speed for 4-5 minutes until a smooth dough forms.
  2. Cover the bowl with a towel or plastic wrap and let rise in a warm spot for 30-60 minutes until nearly doubled in size.
  3. Preheat oven to 450°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper. Bring water to a boil and carefully add baking soda.
  4. Punch down the dough and divide into 12 pieces. Roll each into a ¾-inch rope and cut into 1-2 inch pieces.
  5. Boil each piece in the baking soda bath for 30 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  6. Brush bites with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  7. Bake for 12-14 minutes until golden-brown.
  8. Serve warm with your favorite dip.
