  3. Add the lean ground beef, breaking it up, and cook for about 8-10 minutes until browned.
  4. Pour in beef broth and add dried thyme. Simmer for 5-10 minutes until thickened.
  5. Let the beef mixture cool, spoon it into pastry-lined tins, cover with lids, and crimp edges to seal.
  6. Beat an egg and brush over each pie for a golden finish.
