Brownie Layer
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips use milk, dark, or white
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1/3 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder consider using dark cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon Espresso Powder can substitute with instant coffee
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Light Brown Sugar can use dark brown sugar for deeper flavor
  • 2 large Eggs or flax eggs for vegan
  • 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour gluten-free flour can be used
  • 1/4 teaspoon Fine Sea Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda

  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter melted
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Light Brown Sugar dark brown sugar can be used
  • 1 large Egg or flax egg for vegan
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch can use more flour if unavailable
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour gluten-free option if needed
  • 1/4 teaspoon Fine Sea Salt
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips any type can be used

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the unsalted butter over medium heat in a light-bottomed saucepan, stirring for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Mix in the chocolate chips into the browned butter and let melt slightly.
  4. Combine both sugars in a mixing bowl and beat until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the brown butter mixture, then gradually add flour and sea salt, mixing carefully.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk melted butter, sugars, and egg until shiny. Sift in dry ingredients and fold in chocolate chips.
  7. Spread half of the brownie batter in the baking pan, dollop half of the cookie dough on top, then layer with remaining brownie and cookie dough.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown on top and a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  9. Cool in the pan for 1 hour before slicing into squares.

Notes
