Filling
  • 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese or other cheese varieties
  • 1 cup Tomato Sauce spicy variant optional

Egg Wash
  • 1 large Egg melted butter can be used instead
Optional Ingredients
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil or avocado oil/butter
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice or vinegar
  • to taste Garlic, Herbs (like oregano) fresh herbs recommended

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out your pizza dough to a thickness of about ¼ inch and cut into circles.
  3. Carve jack-o'-lantern faces into half of the dough circles.
  4. Spread tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese on the uncarved dough circles, adding your chosen toppings.
  5. Seal the calzones by placing the carved circles on top and pressing the edges together, crimping with a fork.
  6. Apply the egg wash over the tops of the calzones.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Let cool for 2-3 minutes before serving warm.
