Method
 

Steps
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, ground black pepper, table salt, onion powder, cayenne pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Whisk until evenly mixed.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together a portion of the seasoned flour with cold water until smooth and slightly thick, resembling pancake batter.
  3. Take chicken breasts and place them between plastic wrap. Gently pound to an even thickness of about ¾ inch. Coat each breast in the chicken batter.
  4. Heat vegetable or canola oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until 350°F (175°C). Fry the battered chicken breasts for about 3 minutes each side until golden brown.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together honey and hot sauce until combined. Add melted butter if desired and jalapeños for extra heat.
  6. Butter and toast the buns until golden. Assemble the sandwich with cheese, lettuce, pickles, fried chicken, hot honey sauce, and spicy mayo.
  7. Serve immediately while hot and crispy. Pair with sweet potato fries or coleslaw.
