Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, water, black pepper, cayenne, and optional red pepper flakes until dissolved and thick.
  3. Dredge each piece of bacon in the mixture, ensuring it's well coated, then arrange on the wire rack.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Slice the baguette into ½-inch pieces, brush one side with olive oil, and toast in the oven for 8-10 minutes.
  6. Rub a garlic clove over the tops of the toasted baguette slices and spread goat cheese on each.
  7. Top with candied bacon pieces and drizzle with maple syrup, honey, or hot honey.
  8. Garnish with fresh herbs or candied pecans, serve immediately.
