Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
- In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, water, black pepper, cayenne, and optional red pepper flakes until dissolved and thick.
- Dredge each piece of bacon in the mixture, ensuring it's well coated, then arrange on the wire rack.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Slice the baguette into ½-inch pieces, brush one side with olive oil, and toast in the oven for 8-10 minutes.
- Rub a garlic clove over the tops of the toasted baguette slices and spread goat cheese on each.
- Top with candied bacon pieces and drizzle with maple syrup, honey, or hot honey.
- Garnish with fresh herbs or candied pecans, serve immediately.
