Ingredients
  

For the Beef Mixture
  • 1 lb Ground Beef use 80/20 for flavorful results
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil or vegetable oil if needed
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced fresh cloves are preferred
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Ginger, grated no substitute for authentic flavor
  • 3 Green Onions, chopped use both white and green parts
  • 3 tbsp Gochujang essential for spice and umami
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce gluten-free option available
  • 1 tbsp Rice Vinegar mild mirin can be used as a substitute
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar maple syrup can be used as a substitute
  • 1 tsp Toasted Sesame Oil reduce or omit for allergies
  • 1 tsp Sriracha optional for extra heat
  • 2 tbsp Water used to thin the sauce
For the Bowl
  • 2 cups Cooked Rice jasmine or short-grain rice recommended
  • 1 cup Shredded Carrots can substitute with bell peppers
  • 1 cup Thinly Sliced Cucumber can be replaced with radishes
  • ½ cup Kimchi optional
  • 1 tsp Toasted Sesame Seeds for garnish
  • 1 each Egg fried or soft-boiled, optional

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. Start by preparing your rice according to the package instructions, using a medium saucepan.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the gochujang, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil, sriracha, and water until smooth.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and white parts of the chopped green onions. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks. Fry for about 5-7 minutes until browned and no longer pink.
  5. Once the beef is browned, reduce heat to low and pour in the prepared sauce. Mix thoroughly and allow it to simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  6. To serve, place rice into each bowl, spoon the beef mixture on top, and add toppings like shredded carrots, sliced cucumber, kimchi, and garnish with sesame seeds.
