Equipment

  • Colander

  • Medium-sized bowl

Method

Cooking Instructions
  1. Start by bringing a large pot of water to a rolling boil over high heat. Carefully add your ramen noodles, cooking them for about 3 minutes or according to package instructions until tender yet firm. Once done, drain the noodles in a colander, shaking off excess water, and set them aside while you prepare the sauce.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar (or honey), and room temperature water. Whisk these ingredients together until the sugar has dissolved completely, creating a smooth and slightly thick mixture. Set this flavorful sauce aside while you get the aromatics ready.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Once shimmering, add the freshly minced garlic and the white parts of chopped green onions to the pan. Sauté these aromatics with a sprinkle of red chili flakes for about 1 minute or until fragrant and lightly golden, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
  4. Pour the prepared soy sauce mixture into the pan with the sautéed garlic and scallions. Increase the heat to medium-high and allow the sauce to simmer gently for about 2 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly and coats the back of a spoon.
  5. Add the drained ramen noodles to the pan, tossing them gently in the sauce to ensure they are evenly coated. Stir continuously for about 1-2 minutes, allowing the noodles to absorb the sauce and heat through.
  6. Let the combined noodles simmer in the sauce for an additional minute, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully. Once ready, remove the pan from heat and garnish your spicy ramen noodles with the green parts of scallions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Serve hot and enjoy!
